Welcome to Obadiah’s House! The House of the Servants of Yahweh! Here is a little bit about who we are and what we believe:
WHO WE ARE:
We are Obadiahs–the seed of the righteous–we stand on the foundations laid for us by our Messiah, Jesus, the Christ, of Nazareth. We are united neither by blood nor status, but by our wholehearted belief in and reliance upon the work and life of Jesus. We are dedicated servant forces in the spiritual battle between good and evil, light and dark; We are faith-filled, believing worshippers of Yahweh. For we battle not against flesh and blood, but principalities and powers in high places (Ephesians 6:12). True servanthood comes through humility, obedience, and meekness. Like King David or Queen Esther before us, we are men and women after God’s heart.
They call us “Obadiahs” because we are servants of God, striving to do all things for God’s glory and honor. Moreover, we seek the development and mastery of a special gift, given to them by God–their Spiritual Gifts. After discovering this gifting and honing our abilities to convey all the glory to God the Father, we take that gift to the people in the hopes of illuminating them to the truth of Jesus Christ’s love. Each of us has been given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) and with that faith comes “charisma” or giftings like wisdom, faith, knowledge, gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, and diverse kinds of tongues (These giftings are found in the book of 1 Corinthians 12) Simply put, Obadiahs are masters of their craft, crafts they perform for the Lord or by the Lord’s Name and Power only! We seek to honor, glorify, and worship our mighty God in all we do! In cities across America, we aim to be the linchpin of how to operate in the Spirit-filled, mountain-moving faith God gave us all. A primary purpose of Obadiah’s House is to “be the example, set the example”. We seek to be the best examples of true, believing, faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
- Our primary goal is to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all humankind, regardless and irrespective of culture, class, gender, biology, or social status.
- Our secondary goal is to the best of our abilities become an example for others to follow on how to BE a true follower of Christ. “Follow us as we follow Christ,” as it were.
- Our tertiary goal is to create a new spiritual awakening, a movement back to our Heavenly Father Yahweh.
- Our current final goal is to create united ground with and between our brethren of similar but differing beliefs all over the world. God called us to UNITY, with one accord; that is the idea for which we will strive.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
There is only one God, manifested in 3 distinct personalities known as the Triune Nature of God, or the Trinity. Those three personalities are:
1. God the Father (Yahweh, Jehova)
2. God the Son (Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah, Christ, or God Incarnate.)
3. God the Holy Spirit (The Holy Ghost, The Spirit)
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah. We believe that Jesus was Crucified, died, and resurrected as is recorded in the Bible. We believe He is alive today and that he ascended to Heaven, and that soon He will return to Earth to take His true children home to the Kingdom of Heaven.
In a nutshell, here’s a short dialogue about how we view the Trinity.
What is the Trinity? How can God be 3 people at once?
There is one God–The Father. He is an eternal being, uncreated and undivided. He is eternally generating His Spirit and His Word. In other words, His Spirit and His Word are also uncreated, eternal, and therefore they partake in the essence and nature God possesses. The Unity of God is grounded in the one single person of The Father, meaning that everything comes from Him–he is progenitor of all things. So it’s from God, through His eternal Word, in His eternal Spirit. We humans are bound by the limitations of time, space, and matter, God is not. Humans’ actions are individuated, meaning that every human exists in addition to other humans while having different thoughts and committing different actions at different times.
So, God is One, United with His Spirit and Word, unbound by the parameters of space, time, and matter?
God, His Word, and His Spirit are what we call ‘hypostatically’ united; they can not take any actions apart from God. This is because God has eternal possession of His Spirit. We do not have this quality, humans, which is why we can do things apart from God (Free Will) and God can do things apart from us (Divine Sovereignty).
I see, so the unity comes from God the Father Himself, meaning whatever God does, His Spirit and Word also do.
This is the essential definition of The Trinity: God, His Spirit, and His Word, united.
I know the Spirit indwells within each of us. How does God’s Word manifest?
The Word of God became flesh without ceasing to be fully divine. In other words, Jesus is the result of the Word of God taking on a secondary nature (a human form). Think of it this way: it’s not the Word of God committing actions as the Word, rather it is the human incarnation of God’s eternal Word taking those actions that only God can take: claiming to be first and last, claiming to be Lord of the Sabbath, Forgiving the sins of mankind, and judging mankind.
That must be why it’s so important for us to know God and for Him to know us! I get it now!
God possesses a unique, undivided, and unconfused plurality within Himself. This inseparable nature emanates from God the Father, but is shared between the Spirit and the Word as well, attributing to God His Triune nature.
So God the Father is in total communion with His Spirit and His Word. Now I see why my Pastor refers to the Spirit as “He” rather than “It”: He’s God! If God the Father is the progenitor, the Spirit is the essence and nature of God, then that means Jesus, wholly mortal and wholly divine, is a type of bridge or connection between God the Father, God the Spirit and humanity.
The Bridges Project
It is our intention to create a bridge to Jesus Christ no matter ones background or religious beliefs, Obadiah’s House is committed to this. There is always room for every type to come to Him, so long as the heart coming is genuine. We believe that God has already chosen all those who would come to Him and call on Him–we intend to help those people find their way to Him. And since He is omnipresent and omniscient, we can never stray far enough that He cannot reconcile us to Himself. The Bridges Project is a vision of the future of OHIM. In service to others and as work unto God, we will build spiritual bridges between all humans to give them the chance to take Jesus up on His offer of Salvation.
